MONTHLY MEETINGS - all welcome.

We normally meet on the third Tuesday of each month, at Imber Court sports centre. Gathering at 10.30 for a coffee, starting at 11.00 for announcements, then the arranged talk (see our future events page). Members normally stay for a casual lunch and a chat afterwards. There is usually space in the car park.

"Great conversation with Hinchley Wood and The Dittons Probus club”    Dominic Raab

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab recently gave a talk with an extended question and answer session to Probus Club members and guests at a recent meeting of the Hinchley Wood and The Dittons Club at their Imber Court venue. Mr Raab provided a comprehensive overview of current foreign policy as well as covering important local issues.

Probus Club chairman Edmund Woolley in his thank you to Mr Raab said “We were very pleased that you could join us and give such candid answers to our questions. Every month we have an interesting guest speaker and your talk and response to our questions was excellent.”

Visit to Eel Pie Island, home to many of the famous musicians and bands of the 50s/60/s

Eric Clapton, Lonnie Donegan, and many, many more started their careers there, and the Museum holds plenty of memorabilia. Our personal guide, (Caroline), will highlight specifics and recount anecdotes and little known facts of how Eel Pie Island progressed.

There is also a short walk externally along the Thames embankment there, followed by a lunch at the Eel Pie Pub.

(see 'future even ts for details)

Our next regular meeting is on the 21st June.   Jim Kemp will give us a talk on “Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the Great Western Railway”
his meeting may be subject to further Covid restrictions being applied, so please keep watch on this home page, as changes can occur at very short notice.
